Hazzard County boasts some of the most axel-busting back roads, hair-raising moonshine, and best-looking farm girls in all of Georgia–and the Duke boys enjoy all three–frequently. The Duke’s family business is moonshine, and the boys’ Uncle Jesse concocts the tastiest brew in Dixie. More often than not, the boys find themselves on the wrong side of the law as they race to make their deliveries, leading the sheriff’s department on some truly wild goose chases in their infamous orange Dodge Charge, the General Lee. After a long day on the job, there’s nothing like relaxing with an ice cold beer at Hazzard County’s finest drinking establishment, The Boar’s Nest, where Daisy waits tables. From time to time, an out-of-towner makes the mistake of getting a little too familiar with the most beautiful girl in Hazzard Country. They quickly find out, the hard way, that Daisy isn’t just a pretty face–she kicks ass like a Duke; and with Bo and Luke in the mix, that usually means a good old-fashioned knock-down, drag-out bar brawl. But it’s not all moonshine and farm girls these days—when Bo and Luke discover evidence that their neighbors’ properties are being unlawfully seized by crooked commissioner Boss Hogg, their only chance to protect their hometown is to put the ‘pedal to the medal’ in a last-ditch scheme to save Hazzard County.

Movie Trivia

• Jessica Simpson, who plays Daisy Duke, beat out Britney Spears, Mandy Moore and Jessica Biel for the role.

• Jessica Simpson’s film feature debut

• Dolly Parton was offered the role of Pauline (according to Jessica Simpson) but turned it down.

• Paul Walker and Ashton Kutcher were considered to play the Duke boys. Anthony Anderson was also considered to play Boss Hogg.

• Filming commenced on 8 November 2004, 26 years almost to the very day that shooting began for “One Armed Bandits,” the first episode of the original TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard” (1979).

• Many of the jumps and car chase scenes were filmed on a Louisiana State University, Agricultural Research Station in Louisiana. The Station was leased to Warner Brothers during the off season for filming.

• One of the original cars from the ’80s was used as a close-up car. It’s a converted ’68 Charger to look like a ’69 and the original engine was replaced by a brand new Hemi engine. The car was used for a few close-up scenes and then sent back to Warner Bros.

• In 2005, Warner Bros settled a lawsuit filed by representatives of late film producer Bob Clark. Lawyers for the producer claimed that when the studio bought the rights to Clark’s film Moonrunners (1975) in order to make “The Dukes of Hazzard” TV series, they bought the TV rights only, not the feature film rights. The lawsuit attempted to hold up release of this film. The settlement amount was reportedly $17.5 million.
