Jessica Simpson has branded Howard Stern “disrespectful” for his comments about Gabourey Sidibe.

Earlier this week, Stern described the Precious star as an “enormous, fat, black chick” and claimed that she will never appear in another movie.

Simpson told E! News that she had been shocked by the DJ’s comments.

“I’m actually surprised someone had the cojones to say that,” she said. “I just think that’s really disrespectful.”

Simpson added: “It’s unfortunate because she walked the red carpet at the Oscars and she owned it. She was beautiful. There was no denying that she did not think she was the most beautiful person on that red carpet. She was just owning that moment for herself.

“She had such confidence and I absolutely 100% think she could get anything in the world that she wants.”

Simpson also revealed that she has learnt not to let comments about her body shape affect her.

“I don’t care how harsh the criticism is, you’re not going to take me down,” she said. “I’m going to get back up and fight. I’m not going to let anybody’s opinions destroy me.”

Jessica Simpson is not afraid to poke fun at her past failed romances, but the singer still hopes to find true love.

“I hope I don’t die alone, that’s for damn sure,” she told the audience Wednesday at IHeartRadio presents An Evening with Jessica Simpson in Manhattan.

As for what she’s looking for in a guy, Simpson, 29, says, “Hopefully I can find a man that understands my life and understands my purpose. I just need to find the right man.”

Dating in the public eye is challenging for the star whose new VH1 series, The Price of Beauty, debuts Monday. “It does affect certain decisions. Like, I’d love to go out to dinner with certain people I’ve met but I can’t because everyone would be like, ‘Wow!!! They’re gonna get married!’ ”

During the event Wednesday, which included a Simpson having Q&A session led by Danielle Morano from Z100’s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, the singer performed “Who We Are,” the song she co-wrote for The Price of Beauty with pal Billy Corgan. The performance will debut Monday on iheartradio.com and Z100.com.

Jessica Simpson has reportedly claimed that she will “always care” for ex-boyfriend John Mayer, but was “disappointed” by his recent comments.

The ‘Gravity’ star had been quoted as telling Playboy magazine that Simpson was “sexual napalm” and “like crack cocaine” to him.

Speaking on David Letterman’s show, she said: “I mean, normally you would think that somebody you care about would keep those intimate details to himself.

“I mean, it was definitely a compliment, in a way, but I don’t really want people to know that about me. That’s you know, I’m like the good girl and then that happens.”

When Letterman joked that she could be both, the singer replied: “Yeah, but that’s the thing – I am… but he gave away my game!”

She added: “I will always care about him. I think he’s a great person, a great musician, but I was very disappointed by the article.”

Jessica Simpson has revealed that she has stopped worrying about her weight following a recent trip to Africa.

The singer was in the country working on a programme for VH1 about the world’s various social standards of beauty, and was shocked when locals told her she was far too underweight to be considered attractive in their culture.

While Simpson had been concerned about reports criticising her weight gain, she was relieved to discover that bigger is better in many countries outside the US.

Simpson pointed out one trip to Uganda with friend CaCee Cobb that was particularly eye-opening.

She told Us Weekly: “The men told CaCee and I that we would have to [gain weight] for them to consider marrying us!”
